Review from J. W. Pepper (Editor's choice, 2009):
Every once in a while an arrangement of a well-known hymn will come along that is so fresh and unusual that it simply must be experienced. This is one of those arrangements. Layered ostinati, interesting bell/chime colors and the soaring Now Thank We melody all come together in a tableau of color and texture that is an absolute pleasure to hear. This will keep your more advanced bellchoir busy through the fall, but it will create an offering at Thanksgiving season that the congregation will not soon forget. A wonderful concert or festival work, too.
Review from Handbell World:
This setting of Johann Cruger's melody opens with a combination of an eighth-note ostinato in the mid-range bells mixed with sounds similar to a bell tower on the melody. Later, syncopation, accented by mart-lifts, adds to the energy and excitement that last through the final 76th measure. This arrangement is primarily scored in D Major.
